Email Address used Maliciously

A hacker might register your email address as their recovery email address for several malicious reasons:

1. Shielding Their Identity: By using your email as the recovery address, the hacker can obscure their own identity, making it harder to trace their activity back to them.

2. Social Engineering or Phishing: They might try to leverage this association to trick you into clicking on malicious links or providing sensitive information by sending fake recovery emails.

3. Credential Stuffing: If the hacker has compromised other accounts associated with your email, they might be trying to gain control over new accounts using your email as the backup.

4. Gaining Trust: If they link your email to accounts they create or hijack, they could attempt to reset the passwords or gain access to services using your email address to further manipulate you or others.

5. Causing Confusion or Disruption: By using your email for recovery, you might start receiving unwanted security or password recovery emails, potentially overwhelming or confusing you.

If you notice this behavior, it's essential to secure your accounts by updating your passwords, enabling two-factor authentication (2FA), and keeping a close eye on your email for any suspicious activity.
